In
the afternoon of day five, the excursion arranged was a trip on a boat around
the canals and under many of the bridges around St. Petersburg and then along
part of the Neva river taking in the Cruiser Aurora and the fountains off
the point of Yevski island. Luckily the sun came out before we left giving
us some good views throughout the afternoon.

Most of the buildings
lining the central canals of St. Petersburg are three or four stories high
and are in a good state of repair. Apparently a lot of money is being invested
to make the city "Grand" as it was many years ago.
When married in St.
Petersburg, tradition is to be blessed on 6 bridges over the canals to bring
your marriage good fortune.
